East Providence Driver Charged with DUI in Wrong-Way 495 Crash

Police said Hilda Fzala was heading south in a 2003 Toyota when she crashed into three motorcyclists.

A 69-year-old East Providence woman is facing charges of driving under the influence, serious injury resulting and other charges after she allegedly caused a wrong-way crash on Interstate 495 in Norton, Mass., on Sunday.

Police said Hilda Fzala was heading south in a 2003 Toyota when she crashed into three motorcyclists.

Fzala was driving in the wrong direction, police said, and caused one of the motorcyclists suffered critical injuries.

The other two suffered serious and minor injuries respectively.

All three were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Police said the victims were a 28-year-old man from Pawtucket, and two men from Brockton, one 36 and the other 38.

A fourth motorcyclist in the group was unhurt.

Fzala was not hurt and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, driving the wrong way on a state highway and a marked lane violation.

The crash happened at around 2:10 a.m. and remains under investigation.
