Cicilline’s 2012 Congressional Art Competition Now Underway for First District Students

U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI), today announced the details of the second annual Congressional Art Competition for students living in Rhode Island's First Congressional District.

“With thriving institutions like RISD, Trinity Rep, and PPAC leading the way, Rhode Island has already defined itself among the most creative states in our nation,” said Cicilline. “I look forward to this year’s entries, and regret that we can only choose one among what I'm sure will be another group of impressive pieces of art.”

At schools throughout Rhode Island’s First District, art teachers will be asked to submit a single entry prepared by one of their high school students. Teachers will have until March 30th to notify Cicilline’s office of their participation, and all entries must be received no later than April 27th.  Cicilline will convene a panel to award first, second and third place awards, with the winner of the competition receiving complimentary airline tickets to travel to Washington, D.C. and see their work displayed in the Capitol.
