East Providence resident to be featured in upcoming jazz performance at Waterfire
Please join us as East Providence resident Janayla Chavarria along with 12 other talented teens from Providence, Central Falls, East Providence, Pawtucket and Cranston perform in “Sarah-Ella: The Songs of Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald” on Saturday, August 13th, 2011, 7:30pm, at Waterfire on the Main Stage, Steeple Street (bottom of Angell St.) Providence. The show is free and open to the public.
The show, under the musical direction of international musicians Michael Palter and Lynne Jackson, and the artistic direction of Robb Dimmick, features local vocalist Kim Trusty to appear as a guest artist. The original production, conceived by Dimmick and written by Palter and Jackson, celebrates America’s musical diversity and promise of its youth. The project, produced by Ocean State Learning, teaches jazz techniques to young performers and takes them to the Newport Jazz Festival.
