Great Taste of Summer Coming to E.P.

The East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce announces a 'Restaurant Week' celebration beginning Aug. 16.

A “Great Taste of Summer Restaurant Week” is coming to East Providence next month.

The East Providence Area Chamber of Commerce announced the event in its newsletter on Tuesday, July 2. The event will start on Aug. 16, which is also the celebration of the chamber’s 116th birthday, said Executive Director Laura McNamara.

“We can finally tell you about a GREAT new event that the Chamber is hosting next month,” said McNamara in the newsletter. “We've been working on it for months! The Great Taste of Summer Restaurant Week is a celebration of GREAT food and the GREAT food venues in our area.”

A Great Taste of Summer Kick-off Party will open the week at the newly renovated Old Oyster House Marina, 28 Water St., on the East Providence waterfront. A celebrity guest will be Frank Terranova, the award-winning host of Cooking with Class, a daily television cooking segment on Providence's NBC 10. He is a senior instructor in the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University's Providence Campus.

“Following the party, area restaurants and food venues will be offering specials throughout Restaurant Week,” McNamara said.

“The Old Oyster House Marina has a new owner and no expense has been spared in completely renovating the property with landscaping, a new kitchen, air conditioning, heating, windows, interior design and more,” McNamara said. “The outdoor patio has been extended and is a perfect place to enjoy yourself with friends on a summer night.”

“Mark your calendar and see below for more information about this exciting event,” said McNamara. “We hope you can join us.”
