Long Prison Term for Man in Random, Drunken Attack on Providence College Student
Travis Lesperance and two friends drunkenly went out "bum-hunting" one night, prosecutors said.
An Attleboro, Mass. man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a random, drunken attack that left a Providence College student seriously injured.
Travis Lesperance, 25, of 216 South Main St., Attleboro, was also given eight years probation following his release.
Prosecutors said the violent assault happened May 6, 2013 when Lesperance and four friends decided to go “bum-hunting”—meaning attack and rob people at random—during a night of drinking in Attleboro.

They drove to Providence College and approached one individual—but that person ran away, prosecutors said. Then they found a male student, knocked him to the ground, stomped on his head, and stole his cell phone. The student suffered ”significant” facial injuries.

Harrison and Echeverria are awaiting sentencing. Dore is awaiting a September trial.
