HOPKINTON, RI — A 61-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle wreck Wednesday night, police said.
Officers responding to the report of the crash on Clarks Falls Road between Kuehn and Pine Woods roads shortly after 11:15 p.m. found Donald Hopkins "unresponsive in the wood line as well as his motorcycle lying on the side of the roadway," the Hopkinton Police Department said in a media release.
"It appears that Mr. Hopkins was traveling from Main Street towards the (Connecticut) line on Clarks Falls Road," the release said. "The initial investigation shows that the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a rock, causing the operator to lose control."
No other vehicles were involved and "no foul play is suspected at this time," according to the release.
"The Ashaway Fire Department and the Ashaway Ambulance responded and assisted on the scene," the release said. "Mr. Hopkins was transported by the Ashaway Ambulance to Westerly Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries."
