• Aquidneck Community Table and Crisis Intervention Teams of R.I. each win $65,000 from the Rhode Island Foundation (whatsupnewp.com) — Jamestown residents will see their police included in new behavioral‑health crisis training funded by a $65,000 Rhode Island Foundation grant to Crisis Intervention Teams of R.I. Another $65,000 will support a Middletown food hub serving Newport County, expanding access to fresh local food and programming that Jamestown neighbors can benefit from across the region. 
• R.I. man went to prison for raping a teen in 1985. Now he's accused of murdering a woman nearby a month before. (bostonglobe.com) — Jamestown residents are learning new details in the 1985 killing of town native Lisa Hellewell, after prosecutors linked a suspect to DNA recovered from the Newport crime scene. Attorney General Peter Neronha, who grew up with Hellewell in Jamestown, says his Cold Case Unit used modern genetic genealogy and discarded DNA to bring a murder charge decades later.
