5 Things To Know Today: April 4

Story time in East Smithfield; Funny bunnies and homeschool adventures; the obligatory blood drive announcement; program registration at YMCA of Cranston; and today in history: First official Stars & Stripes.

Story Time: It woudn't be a 5 Things list without a story time — East Smithfield Public Library hosts one from 10 to 10:30 a.m. for young'ins from 2 to 3 1/2 years old. Pre-registration required.

Ooh! Bunnies! The Roger Williams Park Museum of Natural History hosts its monthly "Discovery Tykes" program today from 9:30 to 10 a.m. for little ones in the 2- to 4-year-old demographic, focused on the little fuzzy critters (meaning the rabbits). Also today, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Museum offers Homeschool Adventures: Endangered And Extinct. The bunny program is free with museum admission; the homeschool program is $15 if you're registering today.

Roll Up Your Sleeve: Walgreen's at 1763 Broad St. in Cranston (almost as far down as the old Narragansett Brewery) is scheduled to host a blood drive today from 4 to 7 p.m. For all you folks who honor Lent, this is a great way to do something good for others (and if gets you to stop smoking so you can donate, even better).
