A Real Variety Of Events For The Weekend
Rock, disco, and a super hero with a special ring are just some of your choices.

The weather has been cool, and it should carry into the weekend — well, it'll stay cool as far as entertainment is concerned. Your choices include movies, concerts, musicals, and a rather unique tournament for the competitive readers out there.
- The Dunkin Donuts Center hosts Disco Nights this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Performers include Tavares, Evelyn Champagne King, France Joli, Linda Clifford, D-Train, Trammps, and many others. Tickets start at $45, with some VIP tickets available.
- Forever Young, a Neil Young tribute band, plays The Met this Saturday night. The band consists of well-known Rhode Island musicians such as Mark Cutler and Becky Chace, and is a great alternative for those of you not interested in Disco Nights. The show begins at 9 p.m. and tickets are $13.
- The Reverend Bob Levy takes the stage at the RI Comedy Connection for two shows this Friday and Saturday night. The laughs begin at 8 p.m. and tickets start at $15.
- For those of you who are still mourning the loss of The Sopranos, Trinity Rep. has a show that might capture your interest. The Family: A Musical About the Mob is based on a book written by former Rhode Island Attorney General Arlene Violet. Tickets begin at $46, but keep it quiet. We wouldn't want the Feds to find out about it.
- The Green Lantern opens this weekend at local movie theaters. I don't know about you, but I think it's about time the Green Lantern gets some Hollywood Respect. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Basset, and Tim Robbins.
- How about some karaoke? Visit Sapphire Restaurant and Lounge for Karaoke Thursday each week. The performances start at 9 p.m. Be sure to bring your best singing voice (and some ear plugs).
- Misstallica, an all-female Metallica tribute band, will be playing Mardi Gras this friday night. As long as they don't play any Metallica songs from the last 15 years, it should be a good show.
- The Rhode Island Convention Center hosts the Yu-Gi-Oh! card tournament from June 17th to the 19th. This is a great event for those who feel that Dungeons & Dragons was so last millenium.
