From Bruins To Brewers, Lots On Tap For The Weekend

Hockey, beer, concerts, and great food offer the potential for a great time.

Are you still upset about missing the Yanni concert a few days ago? Have no fear, the Johnston Patch is here! As a matter of fact, I'm confident we can find some activities that are even more fun than a Yanni concert, and if I can't, I should probably retire effective immediately. As usual, let's start with some great local restaurants.

  • , located on Atwood Ave in Johnston, offers a great variety of Italian food in a pleasant atmosphere.
  • Looking for great Chinese food? Check out Phoenix Dragon on Broadway. During a recent visit, the food was delicious, and I received large portions and a small bill. That's a combination that can't be beat!
  • offers great food and great prices. Be sure to ask about their specials.
  • I've heard that the food at Wicked Good is, well...wicked good. If you're planning on going to Twin River this weekend, you might as well check it out and catch a game on one of their many TV's (this is a great amenity for those of you who will be dining with boring people).
  • For my fellow carnivores who are in the mood for steak, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Providence is a great option. A little advice: You might want to consider making reservations.

After your stomach is full, there's a full slate of activities to keep you entertained.

  • For the hockey fans, the Providence Bruins will be playing two games this weekend. The first is Friday night at 7 p.m. when the B's play the Portland Pirates. The second is a 4 p.m. game this Sunday against the Manchester Monarchs.  Tickets for each game start at $22.
  • For the beer drinkers out there, the Great International Spring Beer Festival has the answer for all that "ales" you. There will be two sessions this Saturday, April 9th from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $37.
  • Senses Fail visit the Met on Sunday, April 10th. They'll be joined by The Ghost Inside, Man Overboard, Transit, and Sleep City. Tickets are $13.50 in advance, and $15 the day of the show.
  • Would you pay anything to see The Eagles live? How about paying nothing to see one of the nation's best Eagles tribute bands? Another Tequila Sunrise takes the stage at the Lighthouse Bar this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.
