Great 'Esc-Ape': New Flick, PawSox This Weekend

A new Planet of the Apes movie, along with a weekend series at McCoy Stadium, highlight this week's events.

This weekend, there's plenty of baseball, live music for the rock fans, and a film that will make movie buffs go ape!

  • has two bands performing this week. Tina & The Pimps take the stage Friday night, while Identity Crisis plays on Saturday night.
  • Superbad plays this Friday from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. and if you want to get there early, the Patio Bar opens at 4 p.m.
  • If you're looking for a good sci-fi flick, you're in luck. Rise of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters this Friday. Stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, and Tom Felton. For more information and tickets, visit Moviefone.com.
  • The Pawtucket Red Sox begin a weekend series against Buffalo this Thursday night.The games begin at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 6:05 on Saturday, and 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets start at $5 for children and seniors, and $7 for adults.
  • The Met starts the Epic Thursdays dance party this week with D.J. Nook and Ron C. Since it's the kickoff night, admission is free.
  • America visits the Twin River Event Center this Friday night for an 8 p.m. show. Tickets start at just $30, so jump on "A Horse With No Name" and take a ride down "Ventura Highway" (or Twin River Road).
  • R-Rated Hypnotist Frank Santos Jr. visits the Rhode Island Comedy Connection Thursday night, where he'll make the audience part of the show. The altered states of consciousness begin at 8 p.m.
