Great Escape: Hilarity, History, And A Heist
A couple of movies, a couple of comedy shows, and some local history this weekend. And, daylight-saving time ends on Nov. 6 so set your clocks back 1 hour and enjoy some "extra" time this weekend.

Lots of Laughs - Some Local, Too:
- Part II Lounge on Plainfield Street will host the Comedy Factory on Nov. 5 beginning at 8:30 p.m. The show will feature Rockin' Jo Hebert and Johnny P. Tickets are $15 per person.
- Actor and comedian Dana Carvey will be performing live at URI’s Ryan Center on Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. Remember the "Church Lady" and "Wayne’s World" from Saturday Night Live? Carvey's show is part of the University’s 2011 Family Weekend. Tickets are being sold to the general public too. If you are a URI family member, however, discounts are available. The Johnston Historical Society is hosting two events on Nov. 5.:

- At noon you can join John McNiff, park ranger from the Roger Williams National Memorial, for a guided walk to Hipses Rock, a boundary marker for the first purchase of land by Roger Williams. This event is free; however donations are always appreciated. Check out the Johnston Historical Society website for more information.
- From 2 to 4 p.m., you can enjoy “High Tea” and a silent auction to benefit the Johnston Historical Society at the newly renovated Mabel Sprague House. The event will feature finger foods and desserts along with a presentation on the language of parasols. Space is limited for this event. Might Be Your Last Chance to Check Out a Local Movie:
- Inkubus, a Woodhaven Production Company film shot in Cranston starring Robert Englund and William Forsythe, was released on Oct. 28 in limited release. Inkubus is a horror movie about a “skeleton” crew working their last shift at a police station that is scheduled to be demolished in the near future‚ and which looks suspciously like the old Cranston PD. - With Halloween behind us, maybe you’ve had enough horror and gore and might like a few laughs? Tower Heist, starring Alan Alda, Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy, opens in wide release on Nov. 4. The film follows workers of a luxury condominium as they plot revenge against the penthouse billionaire who has stolen their retirement funds. This film is rated PG-13.
