Great Escape: Comedy And Live Music Top The Bill

Local band Sasquatch and the Sick-A-Billys perform this weekend at The Met.

This week's events feature an art festival, the area's best psychobilly band, stand-up comedy, and a movie about a space mission that never happened. You can't beat that variety.

  • Sports Bar and Grill has two bands playing this weekend. "Zink Alloy" takes the stage Friday night, while "No Way out" performs on Saturday.
  • The will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday. In addition to more than 100 artists, there will also be a farmer's market and free activities for children.
  • Sasquatch and the Sick-A-Billys perform at The Met this Friday. They put on a great show, but it isn't for the faint of heart. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, check them out. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $8.
  • "M-80" performs at The Lighthouse Bar Saturday night playing all your favorite hits from the 80's. The show begins at 8:30 p.m. and admission is free.
  • Tim Kaelin (no relation to Kato, as far as I know) performs at the RI Comedy Connection this Friday and Saturday night. The show, and the laughs, begin at 8 p.m.
  • Apollo 18 opens in theaters on Friday, September 2nd. It's the story of a secret space mission which makes some disturbing discoveries. For more information, visit Moviefone.com.
  • Comic Hypnotist Frank Santos Jr. will be performing a 10:15 p.m. show this Friday at Catch A Rising Star. Why not bring some friends and have them get laughed at by the audience? It sounds like fun to me!
