Great Escape: More Choices For Good Food And Great Performances

Musicals, basketball, stand-up comedy, and live music are just some of your choices for the weekend.

What are you doing this weekend?  If you still don't have any plans, you've come to the right place. As always, there's a good mix of restaurants and activities for you to choose from.

  • Sapphire is a memorable restaurant. It has a very cozy, beautiful atmosphere without being pretentious. The prices are fair, and you can stick around after dinner, since it turns into a nightclub at 9pm.

  • offers Italian and American cuisine, with a large bar for those who are only interested in a drink or two.
  • Most Chinese restaurants only have Chinese food, but offers a much more diverse menu.  Besides Chinese food, it also offers Thai, Vietnamesem Japanese, and Cambodian food.

As for activities, there are lots to choose from this weekend. Whether you're looking for music, comedy, or sports, there's something to make you happy.

  • If you're a fan of the Rolling Stones, you should check out Satisfaction at The Lighthouse Bar at Twin River this Friday. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and it's free.
  • The Harlem Globetrotters make their annual visit to the Dunkin Donuts Center this weekend. There will be two performances: Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday at 1 p.m. Tickets start at $33.65. If the Globetrotters play the Generals again, I have a feeling they'll win.
  • Comedian Sal Richards visits Catch A Rising Star at Twin River this weekend for 3 performances. There will be one performance Friday evening at 8 p.m. and two performances on Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.  Tickets are $20.
