Great Escape: Special Waterfire Among Weekend's Events
It will be a busy and exciting night in downtown Providence on July 30, as the rivers are set ablaze.

This week, there are a few unique events happening in the area. One is the beginning of Cirque du Soeil's five-day run at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, another is a very special Waterfire set for Saturday night. This is definitely a weekend to get out and have fun.
- Patio Bar opens at 4 p.m. with the live music starting at 7:30 p.m. and going until 11:30 p.m. This weeks musical guest is Hydrant.
- Waterfire continues to amaze this weekend with The Philharmonic on Fire! The RI Philharmonic will perform in Turks Head Plaza at 9 p.m. Besides the orchestra, there will also be performances by Festival Ballet, Mime Artist Michael Grando, Spogga, the fire dancer, and Andrew Anselmo, "The Origami Guy." It sounds like it's going to be a great evening!
- The White Panda visits Lupo's this Friday on their Pandamonium Tour, with opening acts THe Dean's List and Mike Stud. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $17 in advance, $20 the day of the show.
- Cirque du Soleil: Quidam runs at the Dunkin Donuts Center from July 27 through July 31st. Tickets start at just $35, so stop clowning around and get your tickets before they sell out!
- Felix Brown visits The Lighthouse Bar at Twin River for a free show this Saturday night. The high energy show is a fusion of rock, blues, and funk that should keep you entertained.
- The Smurfs leave the mushroom village and land in New York City during their big screen, 3D debut this weekend. The Smurfs star Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Winters, George Lopez, and Alan Cumming. From watching the trailer, it looks Smurfy. Visit Moviephone.com for more information.
- Shaun Bedgood brings his uniqu brand of comedic storytelling to the RI Comedy Connection this Friday night at 8 p.m. and Saturday night at 9 p.m. for two shows. TIckets for each show are $15.
