Great Escapes: Plenty To Do Out And About
Live music and a beer tasting highlight events in town.

A beer tasting, a CD release party, and a movie that has nothing to do with Conan O'Brien highlight this weekend's list of events, so get out and have some fun!
- Every Sunday at 4 p.m. the Rhode Island Ale House hosts its 10 for 10 beer tasting. For just $10, you can sample 10 beers, and the winner goes on special for the following week. Do your part to ensure that the best beer wins!
- The Coppola Sisters provide the entertainment at this Friday night from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. For the early birds, the Patio Bar opens at 4 p.m., weather permitting.
- Hector Acosta plays Lupo's this Friday night. Tickets start at $35 for the 10:30 p.m. show (Doors open at 9:30 p.m.).
- Conan the Barbarian opens this weekend in theaters across the country. Conan is the story of an ancient warrior engaged in a fight against evil, and contrary to my first impression, has nothing to do with a certain red-haired late night talk show host. Conan the Barbarian stars Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, and Said Taghmaoup.Find more information at Moviefone.com.
- Catch a Rising Star hosts LOL Thursdays each week for those who want to check out some of the best local comedians. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are just $10.
- JHS Battle of the Bands runner-up Absence of Despair plays The Met this Saturday night, which will also double as a CD release party. Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are just $8.
- Ray Harrington visits the RI Comedy Connection this saturday for an 8 p.m. show. If that isn't enough, Hardcore Comedy begins at 10:30 p.m.
