VIDEO: Johnston Police Seek Help Finding Porch Pirate

Johnston police said a man stole packages from porches on Oneida Street and Highland Avenue, then fled in a blue SUV.

JOHNSTON, RI — Johnston police are asking for the public's help finding a porch pirate who is suspected of stealing packages from porches on Oneida Street and Highland Avenue on Dec. 11. The police included video of the man they said was seen leaving the area in a blue SUV.

Police said the white man was caught on one of the residence's Ring camera. The man is taped walking up to the house, quickly scooping up multiple packages and then running back to the street during daylight hours. Police said the theft on Highland Avenue was off Killingly Street. As of Monday, the video posted on the department's Facebook page had been viewed nearly 8,000 times.

The porch pirate incident comes in the same week that the Creative Learning Center in Johnston reported three 7-foot, inflatable decorations had been stolen from its lawn after the anchors were ripped out of the ground.
