📰 News we're reading

• Scammers Posing As Lincoln Town And School Department Staff: Cops (patch.com) — Lincoln residents are being warned about scam emails that falsely appear to come from town or Lincoln School Department staff, asking for money, purchases, donations, or sensitive information. Police urge people to verify senders, avoid clicking suspicious links or attachments, and contact official numbers or websites directly to stay safe and help protect neighbors.

• McKee calls for statewide pause on installing automated license plate readers (wpri.com) — Lincoln has already paused installing 12 Flock license plate cameras, and now Gov. Dan McKee is urging every Rhode Island community to halt new systems while the state conducts a 60‑day review. That study will shape uniform rules on how police use the cameras and handle the data, balancing crime-fighting benefits with residents' privacy concerns.
