• Health officials: avoid recreation at Melville ponds (eastbayri.com) — Residents who use Upper and Lower Melville Ponds are being urged to avoid all recreation there after state testing found a harmful blue‑green algae bloom. Swimming, fishing, boating, and even pet access are restricted until further notice, separate from an ongoing PFAS study in stocked fish. Officials will keep sampling the water and lift the advisory only when toxin levels drop.
