'Substantial Portion' Of Squid Spills Onto Narragansettt Roadway After Semi Rollover: Cops

NARRAGANSETT, RI — A trailer full of squid spilled onto a Narragansett roadway after it rolled over Sunday morning, police said.

The trailer came loose of the truck and turned over as it turned from Galilee Escape Road onto Point Judith Road shortly before 9:30 a.m., the Narragansett Police Department said in a media release.

The trailer blocked "all lanes of travel" on Point Judith Road and caused "significant traffic disruptions and an extended road closure," the release said.

"At the time of the incident, the fully loaded trailer was transporting squid to a processing facility out of town," according to the release. "A substantial portion of the squid spilled onto the roadway."

The road reopened about 5:15 p.m., police said.
