📰 News we're reading

• Gravy, the infamous Middletown turkey that loves traffic, has forever home (turnto10.com) — Middletown's celebrity turkey Gravy, known for wandering busy local roads, has been given a permanent home at the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island in North Kingstown after being struck by a car and repeatedly returning to traffic. Staff and DEM decided he wasn't safe to release again, and he now lives with two other "education turkeys," with plans to feature him in public programs and share updates with his many Middletown fans.

• After scandal ended last season, Rogers football aims to move forward (newportri.com) — Rogers High School's football team, which canceled last season after a locker-room assault on a special needs student, is back on the field and trying to rebuild its culture with a strict 27-point plan and community service. The Vikings are preparing for a nonleague opener at Middletown on Sept. 11, a matchup that will draw plenty of Aquidneck Island attention. Coaches say they're determined to prove the program can move forward the right way.
