$32,000 Raised for Community Grants and Scholarships
GFWC Women's Club of South County Now Accepting Community Grant Applications from Nonprofits
The GFWC Women’s Club of South County raised a record-breaking $32,000, up from $28,000 last year, at its 19th Annual Book and Author Luncheon at the Dunes Club in Narragansett on 11 July 2018, thanks to the talented authors who spoke about their books (Hank Phillippi Ryan, Say No More: A Jane Ryland Novel; Marianne Leone, Ma Speaks Up: And a First-Generation Daughter Talks Back; and Rachel Kadish, The Weight of Ink), sponsors who helped underwrite the event, donors of raffle prizes, and the club's many dedicated volunteers who put in hours of work organizing the event.
The Book & Author Luncheon, the GFWC Women’s Club of South County’s major fund raiser, brings readers and writers together each year to raise funds in support of the arts, conservation, education, and social services and in support of scholarships for women in need.
Applications for the club's GROW HOPE Community Grants are being accepted now through September 12. Nonprofit organizations in South County seeking financial assistance for their programs and operations are eligible. Interested nonprofits wishing to apply for GROW HOPE funding should visit https://www.gfwcri.org/projects-vfqrc for the application or contact growhope.dianacrane@gmail.com.
