• South Kingstown VFW searching for WWII veteran's family (wpri.com) — A World War II pilot who grew up in Narragansett is finally coming home, as the remains of 1st Lt. Franklin McKinney have been identified and are headed back to South Kingstown. Local VFW commander Joe "Tiger" Patrick is urgently searching for any surviving family so McKinney can be buried beside his parents at Riverside Cemetery. Residents with connections to the McKinney family are encouraged to come forward.
• SK police say investigation into hospital bomb threat call remains open (independentri.com) — Narragansett police were among several agencies that rushed to South County Hospital after a bomb threat call forced lockdowns and patient diversions, though the scene was later cleared as a false alarm. South Kingstown officials say about 75 officers, including state police and URI police, helped sweep the facility. Investigators have traced the caller's number to a nonlocal source, and the case remains open.
