Disappointment in life shows itself to us in a myriad of ways, ‘running the gamut’ from minor ‘inconveniences’ to MAJOR catastrophes and all things in-between. These ‘unfortunate’ situations and the ‘misfortune’ that can befall us are inescapable; as these things are part of our life-experience here. Learning how to NOT allow the ‘nuisance’ moments to impact too greatly on us is tricky enough, never mind those which are, truly, difficult to bear. Certainly, there is a vast difference in, simply, being ‘bothered’ by an incidental inconvenience compared to ‘suffering’ through a severe challenge or loss..there is NO comparison, of course. However, when we are able to better ‘handle’ the small ‘pains in the keester’ this is indicative of our ability to be better ‘equipped’ to manage the MEGA moments which challenge us and is BETTER for us, overall. For, if we don’t allow ourselves to completely ‘flip-out’ when life-events cause us angst but, instead, learn how to maintain more ‘self-control’, we are, actually, assisting ourselves in the ‘long run’ by avoiding additional emotional turmoil within ourselves, as extra ‘stress’ is NEVER good, nor will it help us feel better. Learning ‘techniques’ to ‘temper’ our temper(s) or to prevent ‘pressures’ from causing us to ‘blow’ is a great exercise in ensuring emotional-security. Meditation, deep-breathing methods, yoga, and other similar exercises and procedures which aid in our ‘keeping our cool’ are wonderful ways to ‘wind-down’. Naturally, as emotional-beings, we tend to respond from ‘that’ place, rather than to use our intellect and pragmatism; yet, as long as we are a bit more aware that ‘the less worry and anxiety the better’ is a GREAT ‘motto’ to live by we will be more able and capable of ‘dealing’ with our stressful-’stuff’. At least this is what I’ve discovered over the years. Disappointments DON’T, necessarily, need to ‘rule’ our senses...WE need to be in charge, instead. Just Sayin’...
