Regardless, of what 'life' brings our way, we, ALWAYS, have the choice/option as to how we will respond to, those, moments. Even in the WORST of situations, we can choose to seek 'contentment' in those, times. Boethius, a sixth-century politician, who, while serving in the Italian royal-court, was accused of treason and sent to prison. While he awaited his execution, he asked for writing materials so that he could compose his reflections on and about life, these, later to become a spiritual-classic on consolation; For, even, while facing the bleakest of prospects, Boethius' faith in Christ infused his perspective: 'Nothing is miserable but what is thought so, and, contrariwise, every estate is happy if he that bears it be content.' This man understood, better than most, that, our view of changing circumstances and contentment is a personal-choice. The apostle, Paul, who, while also imprisoned, came to understand, that, the way we view our circumstances is more important than the circumstances themselves, when he wrote: 'I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content' (Phil. 4:11). Each of these men could be content because they found their, ultimate, satisfaction through God, Who NEVER changes. When we can come to recognize, that, God is within us...ALWAYS, a presence in which can be found, lasting, satisfaction, then, we CAN be 'content', in our lives, under ALL circumstances.
