Benefit for the Bruen Family

To help make a difference, we are requesting your presence for our 1st annual “Benefit for the Bruen Family” event on Thursday, June 26th at the Mason’s Lodge in Wakefield.  This is a community, friends and family charity event where 100% of the donation proceeds will go directly to:

The Bruen Family to support brain cancer and help with the ever-rising financial costs due to Eric’s declining health.  Our fundraiser’s main goal is to provide a handicapped-accessible van with a lift and material costs for building a new ramp on their home as well as helping out with day-to-day living and medical costs.

The Bruen family has been through some very difficult times during the last seven years. In 2007 after suffering through several seizures, Eric Bruen, his wife Liz and four children found out he had a Glioblastoma brain tumor.  Eric and his family opted for surgery to remove the tumor from his brain.  Come to find out the tumor was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer.  After going through rounds of chemo to fight off the cancer, in January 2014 his doctors deemed he was cancer free, however the good news was not long lived.  In March 2014, he had another seizure and has been in and out of the hospital and rehab since.  A recent MRI showed swelling of the brain and is now has progressed to Stage 4 cancer.  Additionally, most recently Eric had another seizure  Eric and his family need our help to get through this difficult time.

Glioblastomas tumors are usually highly cancerous because the cells reproduce quickly and they are supported by a large network of blood vessels. Glioblastoma Stage 4 tumors are the most aggressive and are very infiltrative - they spread into other parts of the brain quickly.

Tickets for Adults $12 - Tickets for Children $5 - Children under 2 are free.
