Bless the Animals Too

Don't forget presents for your pets this holiday season.

While we gather for the holidays and present our loved ones with gifts, it is easy to forget the dogs and cats who share our lives too.

Our furry friends are part of the family, too. In South Kingstown two specialty stores remind us to make sure Santa leaves Fluffy something under the tree. Johnny's Barkin' Bakery in South County Commons and Pyschic Kitty in Maine's Shopping Center both cater to the pets and the owners who love them.

Both stores carry tons of treats that could be good stocking stuffers. At Johnny's, employees bake their treats on site with flavors like banana biscotti and peanut butter bites. Pyschic Kitty carries fresh baked treats including Caesar's Pizza Pie and Jack's Nuts About Squirrels. Each store also carries special treats for dogs from various manufacturers. Pyschic Kitty specializes in foods for dogs and cats allergic to the supermarket brands, as well as nutritional supplements.

If you want to fill your pet's stocking with more than tasty treats, choose the all-natural leather chew toys at Johnny's or pick up the Elk Antler chews at Psychic Kitty. Both provide hours of chew time. Clothing of all kinds and sizes can also be found in both stores. There are neck scarves with funny sayings, and fleece coats of all kinds and colors. Toys abound, including indestructible rubber toys that float for all the water dogs.

If you have cats and want to spoil them, Psychic Kitty has the goods. There are plenty of toys kitties can chase and a wide selection of catnip to choose from. To enhance the experience, there are several toys catnip can be hidden in. There are also several toys adorned with feathers and string that are fun items to chase.

If you are not buying for a pet but for a pet lover, both stores have gifts that will fit the bill. There are car magnets and stickers, night lights and coffee mugs, Christmas ornmanents, windchimes and home décor. Both stores are pet friendly, so bring your animals along while you shop.
