A Bully Is A Bully Is A BULLY!

On NEVER forgetting who we are...

Thirteen years ago, today, there occurred an event in this Country that changed both the emotional and physical-’landscape’ of our Nation; this, the attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon; a place to which I have ‘ties’, as my dear ol’ Pops once worked there many years ago. During these horrific events, thousands of Americans lost their lives; innocent victims simply going about their day, conducting ‘business as usual’...until it was ANYTHING but. I, as millions of others, will NEVER forget where I was when I first heard ANY ‘news’ pertaining to this tragic-event. I happened to be preparing for work, already on site, sitting in the truck I drove for my particular job. Per usual, I was listening to the ‘Howard Stern’ radio-show, and as typical he was being a bit ‘crude and obnoxious’. In one moment he was yammering on about Pamela Andersons ‘boobs’ and in the next saying something about a plane crashing into one of the Twin Towers. For a brief-second I imagined, as so many listeners probably did as well, that he was ‘kidding’...joking-around; but then I thought ‘WHY would ANYONE ‘tease’ about something of such a serious nature?’ I left my vehicle and went back into the ‘office’ just in time to hear the uttered disbelief of others within. Yes...it WAS, indeed, true...the Towers had been infiltrated and our Country was under attack. I will not get into my personal- ‘politics’ of this event; I have my ‘theories’ and beliefs, as do countless others. It matters NOT ‘how or why’ this catastrophic ‘calamity’ occurred, only that it did, claiming the lives of innocent citizens and changing the face of our Nation simultaneously. Once I understood the magnitude of what was occurring, that day, I could not help but recall a day and time, not so long prior, when my sons and I stood in one of the Towers, gazing out upon the ‘Big Apple’ from the top-floor windows, enjoying a wonderful day together and feeling, as usual, ‘safe and sound’...complacent in our ‘knowing’ that we were, EXACTLY that, in that moment; this, the SAME feeling that each individual in the Towers, that fateful day, must’ve had. Then...there was FEAR; this which ‘terrorism’ exacts from people...the PRECISE reaction and response the extremists, fanatics, revolutionaries, radicals, insurgents, guerrillas, anarchists, freedom fighters, bombers, gunman, assassins, hijackers, arsonists, incendiaries and the ‘like’ wish to impart by and through their actions. It is difficult to get past such brutalization as occurred on 9/11/2001 and, naturally, we will NEVER forget what happened that day, those 13 years ago; however, it is IMPERATIVE, as individuals, communities, cities, states and as a Country, entire, that we do not become ‘victims’, as much as we were victimized; that we keep strong in our hearts and stave of ‘fear’ as best we can, so that the ‘enemy’, whoever it is, does NOT win! Just Sayin’...
