Padma Venkatraman Book Signing at Wakefield Books

Padma Venkatraman joins us to sign copies of her new children’s picture book Faraway Friends. It’s a joyous occasion when you get to visit family in another country after a long time apart. But sometimes it takes a while to connect. In award-winning author Padma Venkatraman’s picture book debut, this family finds a unique way to bridge generational, linguistic and cultural barriers through the power of creative play, and Nicole Wong’s evocative illustrations bring this story to brilliant life.

Padma is the internationally acclaimed author of such books as The Bridge Home, Safe Harbor, and A Time to Dance. She is the winner of WNDB’s Walter Dean Myers Award for Outstanding Children’s Literature and numerous other awards and honors, from Canada to Spain to Japan. Her books have been featured in the New York Times and Washington Post; and her poems have been published in Poetry and nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
