The fall harvest is on and The Farmer's Daughter is celebrating the season. The Harvest Festival, which continues next weekend, October 8-10, has a full range of family activities available as well as sales on shrubs and trees.
In addition to the colors of Fall on abundant display, children can choose pumpkins and gourds to paint or have their own faces painted. There are ponies to ride and pumpkins to launch via sling shot. You can get lost in the corn maze or the little ones can zoom through the smaller hay bale maze. A train made from barrels is ready to give the kids a ride or they can scavenger hunt for toys and candy in a big pile of hay. You can build a scarecrow to take home, including clothes and straw stuffing and enjoy a glass of fresh pressed apple cider. There are antique tractors on display and donkeys and goats to pet. The fall gardens are in bloom and mums and asters are available in many colors.

The most popular attraction on Saturday was the petting zoo. Patti Spencer of Animal Junction has her menagerie of friendly critters on hand during the festival. In addition to her Pug, Roxie, Spencer brings rabbits, turtles and tortoises, a Guinea Pig, two kissable Cockatiels and a tarantula. She also brings her friends to birthday parties, nursing homes and fairs. For more information call 401-207-1205.
