COMMUNITY SHRED-IT DAY TO FIGHT HUNGER IN SOUTH COUNTY

Public invited to bring personal papers and documents for shredding along with non-perishable food items for donation to local agencies.

Saturday, November 8, from 9 am to noon, Blackerby, Seitz & Associates, an Ameriprise private wealth advisory practice, will hold a Community Shred-It Day at their new offices located at 730 Kingstown Road, Wakefield in the Clock Tower Plaza, Wakefield.

“At this Community Shred-It Day, we invite anyone in the community to bring their personal and confidential documents to be destroyed onsite. We also want to use this event as an opportunity to fight hunger within South County by asking for donations of non-perishable food items which will be given to Welcome House and the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale,” said Jim Blackerby. “In addition, Ameriprise will match these contributions through a special program to help fight hunger nationally.”

For every food item received, a donation of $1.00 will be pledged by Blackerby, Seitz & Associates to one of five local charities, chosen by the donor, including: Easter Seals, Habitat for Humanity of South County, Domestic Violence Resource Center, Galilee Mission or the Wakefield Rotary Club Charitable Foundation. Additionally, for every dollar given by Blackerby, Seitz & Associates, Ameriprise will match with support for one meal in their National Feeding America Initiative. “Our goal is 5,000 food items, for $5,000 to local charities, and 5,000 meals,” explained Financial Advisor Spencer Seitz. “We know that’s an ambitious goal, but we’re hoping to make a difference in our community and beyond. To date, we’re pleased to note that Blackerby, Seitz & Associates have already provided 10,000 meals by participating in the Ameriprise Challenge Grant for Feeding America Initiative; this event will help us reach our overall goal of 15,000 meals as part of this program.”
