The Department of Environmental Management (DEM), RI Department of Transportation (RIDOT), and De La Salle Christian Brothers will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Black Point trail expansion project in Narragansett at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15.
The project was funded by a $37,000 grant from the RIDOT and the USDOT/Federal Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program to De La Salle Christian Brothers, along with private donations.
The new trail provides additional public access to the shoreline and clean view corridors to the ocean. The new trail starts at the existing parking lot, continues north along the shoreline, and then forms a loop back to the starting point. View corridors have been strategically placed to provide breathtaking views of the ocean. The path is accessible to people with disabilities and heavily used by walkers, hikers, runners, bird watchers, fishers, nature enthusiasts and photographers.
