Several area Boy Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs will be coming together at the South County Museum on Canonchet Farms in Narragansett at the end of September. This Scout Roundup is a camping trip for troops and a day event for the packs. The general public is welcome to join in on the fun on Saturday September 29 from noon to 4pm.
Boy Scout Troops from Narragansett, South Kingstown, and Charlestown will provide hand on events such as knots, monkey bridge crossing, charcoal reflection oven cooking, and many more scout skills. Cub Scout Packs will share gutter sailing regatta, pinewood derby racing, and other youth games and activities.
This Scout Roundup is a first of a kind in many decades for local scouting. In addition to the scouting program, there will be Rock Climbing from Rock Spot Climbing (soon to be in Peacedale), a finger printing station, planed envirmental conservation, planned emergency managent planning, and local civic infromation. All the grounds and buildings will be open for families to explore at the South County Museum.
Assistance from the South County Musuem, Friends of Canonchet Farms, Narragansett Parks and Recreation, and local leaders and programs from Scout units in Narragansett, South Kingstown, and Charlestown have made this weekend event possible. Come check out what Boy Scouting can be on Saturday September 29, noon to 4 pm at the South County Museum. Boy Scout programs are for all boys in grades 1 thur 12. Come see the Boy Scouts of today and the leaders of tommorrow.
