FBI & State Police Search Narragansett Home

State police and federal agents searched a home near Bonnet Shores on Wednesday, but no one has been charged with a crime.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — State police and federal agents searched a home near Bonnet Shores on Wednesday, but the authorities have been mum about the reason. Laura Meade Kirk, spokeswoman for the state police, said it was a federal case and state police cannot comment. The FBI in Boston confirmed an investigation is being conducted, and it was authorized by a court search warrant. But the agency's Kristen Setera declined to disclose the type of investigation. She did confirm no one has been charged with a crime. Setera referred additional questions to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Providence.

"The only information from this office was to confirm media inquiries that the FBI and RISP executed a federal court authorized search of a residence in Narragansett on Wednesday," said Jim Martin, the public information officer at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Providence. "I confirmed that the search was part of an ongoing investigation being conducted by the FBI, RISP and US Attorney’s Office. I refused to discuss the nature of the investigation. No arrests were made. We offered no further comment. No press release was issued."

The Providence Journal, WPRI-TV and WJAR-TV reported earlier the house was searched. Neighbors had seen state police cars outside the home on Wednesday.
