Funeral Held in South Kingstown for Former Congressman Bob Tiernan
He died last week at the age of 85.

A funeral was held in South Kingstown Tuesday morning for Bob Tiernan, who represented Rhode Island as a congressman for seven years.
Tiernan died last week at the age of 85. He lived in Matunuck Beach following his retirement.
He served as a state senator, representing Warwick. In 1967, he was elected to the House of Representatives. President Gerald Ford also appointed him to the Federal Election Commission. Following that work, Tiernan returned to Rhode Island in the mid-80s and practiced law in Providence.

His wife, Dorothy, died in 2001. They had three sons.
