Narragansett Police K9 Praised For Role In Fugitive Search
Astor played a key role in finding the body of Steven Fregeolle in the woods of Charlestown on Sunday, the department said.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — One officer has been credited for their starring role in the search for a wanted fugitive in the woods of Charlestown on Saturday. Narragansett Police K9 Astor located the body of Steven Fregeolle during the hours-long search, the department said late Sunday night.
Fregeolle was wanted as part of a multi-state police investigation following a fatal shooting at the Fashion Crossing Plaza in North Attleboro on Saturday that claimed the life of a 37-year-old Rhode Island woman. His vehicle was found abandoned near the Francis C. Carter Memorial Preserve Sunday morning, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office reported, and several departments from both states including Rhode Island State Police, Charlestown and Narragansett combed the area for hours before Fregeolle was found dead, believed to have taken his own life.
"K9 Astor locates a murder suspect wanted out of North Attleboro, Massachusetts today in the woods of Charlestown, Rhode Island," Narragansett Police said late Sunday night. "In a combined effort by multiple RI and MA law enforcement agencies, Astor tracked the suspect through a thick wooded area ... Attaboy Astor!"
