NO Good-Deed Goes UnNOTICED...

What truly motivates an 'act of kindness'...

Naturally, whenever we do something ‘nice’ for someone else, being ‘thanked’ for our ‘effort(s)‘ shows us that we are ‘appreciated’; whether it be by ‘word or deed’, when people recognize a kind-act or the ‘good-work(s)‘ offered by others, and say ‘thank-you’, it shows that they ‘value’ the good-deed and are grateful. With these things being said, I must also aver that when we DO perform acts of kindness, in my opinion, it ought be due to the fact that we desire doing so, and NOT out of a ‘need’ to be admired, respected, regarded, or held in high-esteem; but rather because we ourselves ENJOY doing such things. I am a very ‘polite’ driver, and am, forever, showing kindnesses to other vehicle-operators on the road. I do this because I like doing so, NOT because I expect to be thanked; and...this is good, quite honestly, for quite often, my actions appear to go unappreciated for the lack of ‘thanks’ I receive; but this is OK with me, for it is NOT the ‘thanks’ I seek, which motivates my behavior, but, instead, the personal desire and ‘want’ to do something good which I act upon. If I WAS looking for a ‘pat on the back’ or some other form of acknowledgment for my unsolicited-’politeness’, and didn’t receive any, I might get upset or feel bad about how the other person must be an ‘ingrate’ or discourteous or in some other way, ungracious; and I don’t wish to ‘judge’ another simply based on the fact that he or she doesn’t ‘nod’ a debt if gratitude my way when I ‘yield’ to them on the roadway; for personally...I don’t care. I’ve done what I have chosen to do and have done so for ME more-so than for THEM, because it brings about good-feelings within myself whenever I ‘help’ others. No matter the ‘size’ of the deed, all good-deeds extended to our fellow-human are, in the eyes of the Lord, HUGE and GREATLY appreciated by Him, if not the recipients, themselves. Just Sayin’...
