One Person Treated & Released After Fire on Succotash Road
A fire on Thursday afternoon on Succotash Road sent a homeowner to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI—A homeowner trying to douse a fire on Succotash Road was overcome by smoke Thursday afternoon. He was sent to the hospital, treated for smoke inhalation and released, according to Union Fire District Chief Steve Pinch.
The fire destroyed a shed and a live-in trailer. The house is not habitable, Chief Pinch said.
The first alarm came around 2:50 p.m., he said. Six engines and a ladder truck responded. It took about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control, he said.

"It was a nice stop," he said. The wind did complicate the operation, though.
The cause is still under investigation by the state fire marshal's office.
