Opportunity Under The Golden Arches
McDonald's of Wakefield on Tuesday celebrated the corporation's National Hiring Day by welcoming applicants for four new job openings at its restaurant on Old Tower Hill Road.
On April 19th McDonald’s® and its franchisees held their first National Hiring Day, an opportunity for job seekers to apply for some 50,000 positions at McDonald’s restaurants throughout the U.S.
The 32 McDonald’s restaurants in Rhode Island offered some 280 jobs at all levels, from part-time crew to full-time management.
“It went very, very well,” said Sarah Grazier, McDonald’s public relations agency representative. Grazier explained that the number of job openings in any given McDonald’s in Rhode Island varies because some locations in the state serve more densely populated areas or they are open 24-hours.

“There are a lot of opportunities,” Grazier said of the McDonald’s National Hiring Day initiative. At the Johnston, RI, McDonald’s, for example, “There was a Johnson & Wales (University) graduate who applied because he wanted to get management experience in the restaurant industry,” Grazier said.
Owner/Operator John Pinckney of McDonald’s of Wakefield expects to hire four new workers at his restaurant on Old Tower Hill Road. According to McDonald’s Careers web site, Crew ($7.40 and up, hourly) positions are available at the Wakefield restaurant.

Pinckney is also seeking applicants for Salaried Management ($25,000 and up) positions at his Middletown and Warren, RI, locations, according to McDonald's spokeswoman Sarah Grazier.
Robert Garcia, Vice President & General Manager, McDonald’s USA - Boston Region said according to a company press release, “As our business continues to grow, we want to provide our customers with an even better experience in all of our New England restaurants. And every employee,” he continued, “plays a vital role in helping us fulfill that goal.”
The number of people who applied for jobs on Tuesday at the Wakefield McDonald’s was unavailable at press time. Company spokeswoman Sarah Grazier explained that applications are computerized before a final tally is known.
