Planned Parenthood Votes! Rhode Island PAC Endorses Carol Hagan Mcentee in Special Election

Planned Parenthood Votes! Rhode Island PAC has announced its endorsement of Carol Hagan McEntee for the June 9 special election in House District 33.

“Carol Hagan McEntee supports reproductive justice issues, women’s rights and access to vital health care services,” said Judy Tabar PPV!RI PAC board member and President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Votes! Rhode Island. “We are honored to endorse Carol for State Representative.”

McEntee completed a PPV!RI PAC questionnaire and is in full agreement with the position of Planned Parenthood. She agrees that a woman has a constitutionally protected right to a safe and legal abortion, if and when she needs it. She supports state legislation that would codify Roe v. Wade and remove unconstitutional bans on abortion. Additionally, McEntee supports requiring insurance contracts that cover prescription medications to also cover all FDA-approved contraceptive methods.

Her views are aligned with the majority of Rhode Island voters, as evidenced by a poll conducted last year. The poll commissioned by well-respected Lake Research Associates shows an overwhelming 93 percent of Rhode Island voters say it is important for women in Rhode Island to have access to all of the reproductive health care options available to them. A full 85 percent express support for all available options, including abortion. The poll also reveals that voters are unsure where the legislature stands in regards to supporting women’s rights and reproductive health care services.

“It is our job to make sure lawmakers are aware of this remarkable level of support for access to reproductive health care,” Tabar said. “Rhode Islanders deserve to know where their elected officials stand on the issue of women’s reproductive health. It is clear that Carol Hagan McEntee stands with and supports Rhode Island women.”
