Police Log: Habitual Shoplifter Arrested At Shaws

On Tuesday, November 15 around 11:49 a.m. a South Kingstown Police officer was dispatched to the Shaw’s Supermarket on Old Tower Hill Road for a report of shoplifting.  The officer met with a loss prevention specialist, who described a white female with blonde hair and a blue sweatshirt who had been seen concealing several grocery items in a reusable grocery bag and her purse. Afterward, the woman went to a self-checkout and failed to scan all of the items she had carried with her.  Loss prevention specialists detained the woman as she left the store with over $219 worth of items.  Police identified the suspect as Patricia A. Gallagher, 42, of 7 Pepperbush Trail in Saunderstown and placed her under arrest.  She was taken to SKPD, where she was charged with felony shoplifting and an additional count of misdemeanor habitual shoplifting.

Arrests and Citations

Shawn Michael Adams, 22, of 55 Meadowbrook Way Apt. 1 in South Kingstown was arrested on Tuesday, November 15 around 11:25 a.m. for domestic disorderly conduct after police were called to his apartment complex for an assault complaint.  The officers met with both parties and learned that he and Donnell D. Linen, 28, of 561 Broad Rock Rd. had gotten into a fight that escalated to physical violence.  Adams was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, and Linen was also taken into custody for domestic simple assault after police determined he was the aggressor in the fight.

Incidents

On Monday, November 14 around 8:45 a.m. a South Kingstown resident reported tot he SKPD lobby to report a theft from his motor vehicle while it was parked behind the former Giro’s restaurant on High Street on November 10.  The investigation remains open.

On Monday, November 14 around 5:00 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the Shaw’s parking lot for a report of suspected animal abuse. The officer arrived on the scene and found what appeared to be a small animal, possibly a guinea pig, that had been discovered inside a shopping cart carousel in the parking lot.  The animal was not clearly identifiable due to what appeared to be postmortem mutilation, according to the officer’s report.  The incident has been forwarded to the detective division.

On Tuesday, November 15 around 9:30 a.m. an officer was dispatched to the SKPD lobby for a follow up report of a theft. The complaining party stated that she was at the Entertainment Cinemas in the South County Commons in September and had left her wallet inside the theater.  The wallet was recovered on Saturday, November 12 in Jamestown by police officers during an unrelated arrest. The woman has decided to press charges against the suspect.

On Tuesday, November 15 around 5:15 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the area of Curtis Corner Road for a report of possible vandalism.  The complainant met with the officer and stated that while driving in the vicinity of Cedar Hollow Road something struck and shattered her sunroof.  The complainant did not note anything unusual in the area at the time of the incident.  The investigation remains open.
