📰 News we're reading

• Judge affirms finding of disability bias by landlord over dog (rilawyersweekly.com) — A Newport Superior Court judge has upheld a ruling that a Narragansett landlord discriminated against a family by charging extra fees for a service dog at a Glenview Avenue rental. For Narragansett renters and landlords, the decision reinforces that tenants with legitimate service animals cannot be hit with added deposits or monthly pet charges as a condition of housing.

• RI Rescuers Find 14-Year-Old Deaf Dog, 5 Days After Going Missing (golocalprov.com) — A Narragansett resident played a key role in finding a 14-year-old deaf dog that went missing near the South Kingstown Recreation Center, bringing relief to the dog's family. After nearly five days of searching by local animal control, volunteers, and community members, the dog was discovered tangled in brush and safely reunited with his owners, who praised the outpouring of support.

• Labor Day marks end of lifeguards, amenities at RI state beaches (wpri.com) — Lifeguards and amenities have ended for the season at Rhode Island's state beaches, including those in and around Narragansett, so swimmers are now on their own. Officials urge you to be extra cautious in the water and watch for high-surf alerts, while many locals say September's quieter beaches are their favorite time to visit.
