Police Log: Hands Off The Christmas Display!

On Tuesday, November 29 around 2:45 a.m. a South Kingstown Police officer was dispatched to a Broad Rock Road home for a report of people tampering with a Christmas display.  The officer arrived on the scene and met with a male complainant, who stated he awoke and found three males tampering with his display before getting into a BMW convertible with New Jersey license plates and driving off.  Afterward the complainant noticed that two white spiral Christmas Trees, valued at around $40, had been stolen.  A closer look on the property revealed that the trees were later discovered somewhere else on his property.

Arrests and Citations

Jenna Elizabeth Gaudreau, 21, of 206 Old Lewiston Rd. in North Monmouth, Maine was arrested on Tuesday, November 29 around 7:20 p.m. on an active bench warrant from Fourth District Court for failure to appear after police were called to an Orchard Avenue residence for a reported assault.  Gaudreau was taken to SKPD, processed, and later transported to the ACI.

A 14-year-old South Kingstown male was arrested on Tuesday, November 29 around 12:25 p.m. for first-time possession of marijuana after the school resource officer was called to the High School gym locker room.  School staff had discovered the youth allegedly attempting to smoke out of a glass bowl and detained him, where a search of his backpack yielded an Altoids container full of suspected marijuana.  He was taken to SKPD, processed, and later released to the custody of his father.

Marcelus M. King, 27, of 199 Sand Turn Rd. in West Kingston was arrested on Tuesday, November 29 around 11:50 a.m. on an active Sixth District Court warrant for failure to appear after an officer offered to give her a ride to Wakefield.  She was taken to SKPD, processed, and later transported to the McGrath Judicial Complex.

Evan W. Vincent, 22, of 43 Oak Ave. in Lunenberg, Mass. turned himself in to SKPD on Tuesday, November 29 around 11:30 a.m. on a felony charge of larceny originally reported on Sunday, November 27. Vincent allegedly took several rings, three golden compasses and a bottle of pain medication from his landlord’s house to fund his drug habit.  He was processed without incident and later transported to Fourth District Court.

A 17-year-old South Kingstown High School student was arrested on Monday, November 29 around 10:04 a.m. for disorderly conduct after he was located attempting to flee the High School after his alleged involvement in an altercation with another student.  He was taken to SKPD, processed, and later released to the custody of his parents.

Joy Lewis, 50, of 1213 Kingstown Rd. in South Kingstown was arrested on Monday, November 28 around 7:50 a.m. on an active Fourth District Court bench warrant for failure to appear after a traffic stop on Kingstown Road.  She was taken to SKPD, processed, and later transported to Fourth District Court for arraignment.

Benjamin A. Lindley, 23, of 29 Tupelo Trail in Narragansett was cited for leaving the scene of an accident on Monday, November 28 around 2:39 p.m. in the area of Tower Hill Road. He was issued a Fourth District Court summons and allowed to leave the scene. 

Incidents

On Monday, November 28 around 2:50 p.m. an officer took an in-station complaint from an employee of Smith Bridge Stables, who stated that two western saddles with a combined value of over $2,000 had been stolen from the property.  The employee noticed that one of the stolen saddles was discovered on a nearby farm recently.  Police have begun an investigation and are following up on a potential lead.
