It is the privilege and responsibility of every American to vote for our civic leaders. Although, at times...and MANY times, it seems, regardless who we vote for things change very little. First, I must say that I don’t envy ANY new leaders who step into the political realm; for they are typically greeted by and with the mess that has been left by decades of ‘mismanaged’ government and the political parties who have preceded them. Second, if a constituent chooses not to exercise their ‘right to vote’, he or she has NO ground, whatsoever, to grouse or complain about the party or parties ‘that be’ as he or she chose to not contribute by way of a vote. I understand that loads of folks opt to not vote for they feel that their one vote won’t make a difference; and...perhaps they would be correct, for as we have come to understand, over the years, government, politics, and politicians have their own agenda. Yet, to ‘give up’ completely seems a bit sad to me; for there is always hope that things can change and/or improve and by voting, we cast a ‘vote of confidence’ that we believe in the ideals on which this country was founded. So, today, I WILL get to the polls and exercise MY civic-duty; I’ll make the choices I believe might best aid in the betterment of our political-machine and subsequently our citizenry and I’ll pray to the Lord above that our newly elected public servants will work hard to serve our best interests.
