Rep. McEntee named 2017 Legislator of the Year

The RI Conservation District picked her because she helped secure funding for the state conservation committee.

From Rhode Island General Assembly: Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett) was recently recognized as the 2017 Legislator of the Year by the Southern RI Conservation District and the Rhode Island State Conservation Committee (RISCC). Representative McEntee was presented with the award on November 11 at the conservation district’s annual dinner, which was held at the Varnum Armory in East Greenwich.

“This award is a true honor for me because I firmly believe in the environmental protections advocated by the RI Conservation Districts. We only have one planet and we must protect it from the devastating effects of pollution and climate change. I thank all of Rhode Island’s conservation districts for this recognition and I look forward to continue working with them to protect the environment for many more years to come,” said Representative McEntee.

Representative McEntee was instrumental in securing funding for the RISCC by advocating for its inclusion in Governor Raimondo’s annual budget proposal. RISCC has had a tremendous track record of return on its investment by the state, with every dollar RISCC has received from the state, it has translated into 22 dollars in grants from other organizations.
