RIIL 2015 Student Athlete of the Year

Alexander Millen of Narragansett named Rhode Island Interscholastic Student Athlete of the Year

Narragansett, April 27, 2015:  Alexander Millen, a 17 year old senior at Narragansett High School, was honored as the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Student of the Year at the RIIL luncheon had Monday at the Quidnessett Country Club.  Alex was selected from all the RIIL Student Athletes of the month that had been chosen by their Athletic Directors and School Principals.  Alex won the Student of the year award based on his grades, his 4 sport commitment of football, wrestling, and track and field and lacrosse.  This past February he won the RI 285 weight class Wrestling Championship.  He won the Freshman State title and was also a National High School Coaches Association All-American in 2011.  He is a 3 time NHSCA Academic All American.

Alex is a 2 time captain of the wrestling team at NHS where he is part of FFA, the school band, and the Jazz Band.  He is a member of Troop 1 Narragansett the past seven years and earned his Eagle Scout 2 years ago..  He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and a past member of White Stag which is a National Youth Leadership Training.

Alex will be attending Roger Williams University in Bristol this coming fall.  He plans to major in Chemistry and be part of the 3 time Pilgrim League and 2 time New England Champion wrestling team.  The coach of the hawks is South Kingstown native Jon Egan, 4 time New Coach of the Year.
