During warm summer months, comb
jellyfish make their way into the coastal salt ponds. These small creatures glow when agitated,
putting on quite a show after dark. The
Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association and Salt Ponds Coalition will guide this
interesting excursion on Ninigret Pond in Charlestown, RI to experience the
comb jellys’ natural light show with every paddle stroke. Since this paddle takes place after dark,
please be sure to bring headlamps or flashlights. A limited number of
single-person 9 foot kayaks are available through WPWA for an extra
donation. PRE-REGSITRATION IS REQUIRED,
and there is a fee for this paddle.
WPWA/SPC Member Price: $10.00/person (adult and initial child);
Non-member Price: $20.00/person (adult and initial child). For More Information Contact Heather Hamilton
at heather@wpwa.org or call 401-539-9017; register at www.wpwa.org.
