Scarborough Wastewater Treatment Plant In Spotlight

The plant is the first of its type in Rhode Island to calculate for sea level rise in the design.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Officials were due to visit the Scarborough Wastewater Treatment Plant on Monday. The plant is located on Ocean Road south of the beach and Knowles Way. The plant's flood proofing project is the first if its type in Rhode Island, according to Patricia A. Roosa, executive assistant in the Town Manager's office.

"This is a $1.5 Million project that is being completed using CDBG-DR funds of $1 Million and is also the first major flood proofing project to be completed in Rhode Island that incorporates sea level rise into the design," she said.
