Should South Kingstown Approve $1M for New Recreation Center?
Voters will decide the issue in the general election Nov. 4.

South Kingstown voters on Nov. 4 will decide on a key funding measure for a proposed recreation center.
A question on the general election ballot will ask if a $1 million bond for the project should be approved.
The $6.15 million center would be built on a 13-acre parcel on the former Dominic Savio property on Broad Rock Road. The town bought the land from the Diocese of Providence in 2009.

So far, voters have approved $3.15 million for the project. Another million would come from recreation fees and another million would come from an unassigned fund balance transfer. The rest of the money is represented in the $1 million question voters will decide on Nov. 4.
Town officials said the number of people participating in recreation programs has increased 33 percent since 2009.
