South Kingstown Delays Budget Referendum To July
The budget referendum has been pushed to July 14 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — South Kingstown's budget referendum has been delayed by a month in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The town manager made the decision in an effort to protect the public health of residents and to encourage voting by emergency ballot.
"The delay is intended to allow the town to conduct an election in the safest possible manner while also ensuring that as many qualified voters as possible may exercise their right to vote," the town said in a statement.
The referendum will now be held on July 14 instead of the originally scheduled June 9. Signatures have been verified on two referendum petitions.
